The World of Raksasa

The mysterious plane of Raksasa: a world dominated by titanic creatures that drift endlessly through a starry void. These creatures, known as the Divine Beasts by the sentient races, carry on or within them the populations of diverse flora and fauna. From mere cities to sprawling continents, these massive creatures are host to a myriad of topographical features whose populace and climate can vary wildly with each iteration.

The Divine Beasts are sentient, living creatures, and everything from mood to movement can potentially affect all life they support. An angry Divine Beast might unintentionally cause a natural disaster like a great storm, whereas a beast’s orientation during its travel through the void could affect tides, seasons, or even shifts in gravity. Continental shifts on a stretching beast could create new features or expose new natural resources, leading its people to an age of prosperity or kicking off an era of war. The full number of these creatures that exist in Raksasa and why they travel endlessly  is yet unknown, the truth only revealed to perhaps the wisest of sages.

The populations they support seem to be connected to many Divine Beasts’ own homeostasis, leading them to actively try and seek balance. Just like you and I, these beasts can’t necessarily control what’s going on in and around themselves at a micro level. Thus, many great heroes and villains of the realm claimed to have received guidance from the Divine Beasts themselves in order to achieve things they might not have been able to change on their own. This divine interference is generally held to be true, though not all religions and schools of thought in Raksasa hold those beliefs.
